Toyota has always dedicated itself to improving the safety of its vehicles, but the Japanese automaker goes beyond simply developing new active safety technologies to protect its customers.

Indeed, Toyota firmly believes that safety should not come with an extra fee, and this year Toyota has added its suite of Toyota Safety Sense active safety systems to the list of standard features in 90% of its most popular models.

What is Toyota Safety Sense?

In other words, you don’t have to pay extra to get driver assistance technologies that are designed to not only warn you of a potential danger, but in some cases even intervene to protect the vehicle’s occupants.

There are two Toyota Safety Sense systems available in new Toyota vehicles. Let’s have a look at each one. Again, these systems are standard on the models where they are offered.

Toyota Safety Sense C

Toyota Safety Sense C includes Pre-Collision system, Lane Departure Warning system and Automatic High Beams. It is standard on the following models: 2017 Corolla iM, 2017 Yaris Hatchback, 2017 Prius c.

Toyota Safety Sense P

The Toyota Safety Sense P system includes Pre-Collision with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning System with Steering Assist, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and Automatic High Beams.

The Toyota Safety Sense P system is available on the following models: 2018 C-HR, 2017 Corolla, 2017 Highlander, 2017 Avalon, 2017 RAV4, 2017 RAV4 hybrid, 2017 Prius, 2016 Avalon (Limited), 2016 RAV4 Hybrid (Limited with Technology Package).
