The 2012 Camry Hybrid features a re-designed eye-catching exterior that not only subtly emphasizes the advanced nature of hybrids but also announces its "Car of the People" appeal. A more forward stance and aggressive grille, highlighted by the "Hybrid Blue" Toyota badge, reveals the shape of things to come: style, grace and performance in harmony with concern for the environment.

Aerodynamics

The Camry Hybrid's new stabilizing fins, located on the side mirror bases and Rear Combination Lamps add to the already smooth and aerodynamic ride provided by the lower, wider stance and optimized underbody parts and rear suspension. That translates into a more muscular and athletic look – and results in class leading fuel efficiency.*

INTERIOR

Silent Running

The 2012 Camry Hybrid joins the world of luxury with unprecedented cabin quietness, lower vibration levels and ride comfort. As well, lower noise levels than typical hybrid vehicles are achieved through a special acoustic package and windshield, and sound dampening materials in the engine compartment. And when the engine shuts off in EV Drive Mode and the car uses only the electric motor, the cabin becomes even more hushed.

Roomy Comfort

Just like its Camry stablemate, the Hybrid features more leg, knee and head room, thanks to improved design, thinner, lighter materials and better use of cabin space. Increased trunk space – more than 12% more by volume – makes those family trips suddenly easier. The XLE joins in with Leather Wrapped Steering Wheel and Shift Knob. Other new features include All Season Floor Mats.

Meter Exclusivity

To improve visibility and make eco-friendly driving even more fun, the 2012 features a hybrid-exclusive combination meter with Hybrid System and fuel consumption indicator. As well, a newly developed Fuel Economy Gauge has been adopted, with the Instantaneous Fuel Economy Gauge with LEDs wrapped around the Average Fuel Economy Gauge, making it easier to compare the two.

XLE Hi-Tech Bundle

6.1" Display Audio, Bluetooth Capability, and Electrochromic Rear View Mirror with Digital Compass come standard in the XLE. The Moonroof Package ups the hi-tech ante with Navigation, Backup Camera, Anti-Theft System and Glass Breakage Sensor, while the Leather and Premium Audio Package weighs in with a 7" Voice-activated Display Audio, and Premium JBL Audio with 10 Speakers.

Hybrid Synergy Drive

Brilliance in Motion. You wanted more power to go along with class leading fuel efficiency* and ultra-low emissions – you got it. City fuel efficiency is improved by 39% and equipped with a new 2.5L Atkinson Cycle Engine, the latest version of Toyota's Hybrid Synergy Drive offers the equivalent of 200 Horsepower. That's 7% more than the previous model, with torque increased by 10%. Bottom line: improved acceleration, improved power, improved performance.

Handling

The best compliment you can give a hybrid is: “It drives like a conventional car.” Thanks to the newly developed rear underbody, performance-inspired rear suspension, and improved Electric Power Steering, the Camry Hybrid is more stable, quick and agile than ever – and truly deserves its “non-hybrid hybrid” moniker.

Advanced Braking

Equipped with an Electronically Controlled Brake (ECB) system, the Camry Hybrid combines standard braking with regenerative braking which recovers braking energy to recharge the battery so you never have to plug in. The result is improved safety and improved efficiency. As well, a Hill-start Assist Control helps keep the vehicle from sliding back when you release the brake and apply the accelerator when starting on slopes, (driver activated). The ECB system controls standard braking and Hill-start Assist Control along with the Anti-lock Brake System, Traction Control, Vehicle Stability Control, Brake Assist, all features of Toyota's Star Safety System™.

SAFETY

Minimizing Impact

Camry Hybrid is designed for effective impact absorption in case of a collision, thus helping to keep cabin deformation at a minimum. Not only is frontal and side collision energy absorbed and dispersed but also that coming from a roof collision, resulting in a safer space in an accident.

Rigid Rules

Through the use of new stronger yet lighter high tensile strength sheet steel, the 2012 Camry Hybrid adds handling stability while reducing vehicle weight. High-impact areas such as rear bumpers feature thin and high tensile aluminum while a newly developed resin allows for thinner but just as strong front and rear bumper covers. Other improvements include: modified cowl section to create a more rigid suspension area; increased front and read door rigidity; and new rear underbody and subframe for better control when turning and changing lanes.
